A Review Of The Nexus One

There has been a large buzz generated by the new Google phone , the Nexus One.But is it what it is cracked up to be.

At 3.7 inches the screen is a small larger than most phones. But not as large as the HTC-HD2 for example

The Nexus One has huge sex appeal when compared to the i Phone as it is very grippy , yet pleasant and soft and is very curvy.A metallic bezel surrounds the front and back side of the phone, and the battery cover is covered by a rubbery plastic material making it a very excellent looking phone.

The speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon processor loaded by Google helps to make the phone run quicker and as everybody knows people like that more.It tends to be quicker than other phones.

The phone has a 5 megapixel camera compared with the 3.5 of the iPhone. It also has a large footprint on the back of the device, larger than on most phones.Enhancing all of this are the macro and low light features which are top notch for a mobile phone.

For each entry into the operating system multiple fields exist.Work information,e-mails, Url\’s, instant messaging handles, street addresses etc. This is due to being an Android phone.

Enhanced Voice search, through interactive voice commands is a stand out feature.Another stand out feature is the interactive \”living\” wallpaper which being dynamic is kind of addictive.Utterly useless but really addictive.

The Nexus One comes with an inbuilt Satnav capability which Apple users do not get unless they pay for it.

In the developing market for additional applications but, Apple\’s itunes store offers 115000 compared to the 20000 or so in Google\’s Android marketplace. This means of course that there are currently far more tools and games available to iphone users.

In summary then, the Nexus One loses out in the small term to the iphone over the sheer range of applications available BUT it wont take long for the Nexus to catch up here and then the advantage will be with the Nexus as it can run multiple applications simultaneously.

In the final analysis it is not about what this geek thinks about it or not but it is down to the way the individual user prefers to use it .If you want to use lots of apps now you will probably want to buy the iphone. If you don\’t you may want to consider the Nexus.
